Why use vacuum forming to build custom enclosure and housing?
Compared with injection molded enclosures, thermoformed abs plastic cases has much low tooling cost, more surface features and faster lead time.

Development of thermoforming in molding custom plastic cases and housings
Before, thermoformed plastic enclosures are regarded as a simple cases, which can not be of complex structure. Thermoformed products are only trays, bases, covers, and so on.
However, nowadays, thermoforming can build large plastic enclosures, housing, enclosures also, with pre-glued nut for screwing, ribs, stiffeners, and seamless junctions.
A whole thermoformed housing can be separated into several parts, of different colors and assembled together.
Thermoformed enclosure design would be a key for this tech. MDE team has great experience in facilitating our clients to improve designs and realize them with fast vacuum forming molding.
If the enclosure of housing is assembled with several parts, each parts limit is around 2000mm*2800mm.
Generally all thermoplastics, such ABS, HIPS, HDPE, PMMAY, PC, can be used. More often, clients choose choose ABS or PMMA capped ABS.
Generally speaking, too much small cases, or housings, would be not suitable for vacuum forming. The design would be better if it is larger than 200mm in width and length.
